Welcome to My Corner of the Internet: An Introduction

Hello and welcome! If you’re reading this, you’re probably curious about who I am. This blog is a place for me to document my thoughts, experiences, and journey, and I wanted to kick things off by giving you a little introduction to the person behind the words.

Embracing the Road Less Travelled

One of the defining aspects of my life has been a consistent inclination towards taking the “road less travelled”. This doesn’t mean seeking uniqueness for its own sake, but rather making choices that align with my interests and goals, even if they diverge from the mainstream.

My educational path continued this trend. I decided to leave one institution to pursue opportunities in a major city, a choice made by only a few students. Although my initial goal wasn’t realized, I achieved a rank that allowed me to attend top engineering schools. My choice of college was influenced by its reputation in quizzing circles. I then chose a specific engineering discipline over more popular options, again seeking a less common field. My internships also followed this pattern, selecting a smaller company for broader exposure before pursuing a competitive internship at a well-regarded institution. Even my elective choices were typically considered challenging and specialized.

A Career at the Intersection of Business and Technology

My professional journey has also taken me down interesting paths, often at the intersection of technology and business. I started in a pricing-related role, handling quoting and later working on cost analysis and negotiation.

A significant part of my early career involved working with a data visualization tool. I received training and developed several widely used applications, including a pricing tool that significantly improved workflow efficiency. This became a key application within the company. Other applications I developed included tools for tracking performance metrics and generating recommendations. I was the main point of contact for the pricing team regarding this tool. I also received training on another pricing software.

Later, I moved into a strategic marketing role within a high-performing team. My responsibilities included market research, maintaining market share data, and reporting revenue breakdowns to external agencies. I worked on various product portfolios. I was also involved in extending pricing guidance models. I supported performance dashboards that measured effectiveness and helped test different models. I also worked on finding partnership opportunities and various ad-hoc projects. During this time, I created dashboards for a revenue-related project.

I was a founding member of an analytics team, part of a digital division. Here, I was involved in digital and performance marketing. I helped establish processes for web analytics, defining key metrics, and integrating data from various sources. I used scripting languages to create data pipelines and automate alerts. I also defined metrics for online communities and built dashboards for web and community analytics. A key project involved tracking customer touch points through the sales funnel. This period also provided an opportunity for mentorship.

My most recent role was in product marketing within a memory solutions team. I successfully managed a price increase program and oversaw product discontinuation efforts. My experience spans strategic marketing, pricing strategy, pricing analytics, business intelligence, marketing intelligence, data visualization, segmentation, market research, market sizing, product research, using tools like spreadsheet software, presentation software, and market research platforms. I also have experience in programming languages and database querying.

Passions and Pursuits Beyond Work

Outside of my professional life, I have a range of interests and hobbies. Running is a significant one; I used to run regularly and am more inclined to run in cooler weather. It’s been a recurring activity. I’ve completed several long-distance races in various locations. My longest run to date is a significant distance. Running represents perseverance and pushing personal limits. I aim to improve my running pace. I recently considered restarting running.

I enjoy playing basketball, starting during my school years and continuing afterwards. My physical stature is advantageous. I participated in school and college events, playing regularly.

I enjoy listening to podcasts, specifically mentioning “Podcast A” and “Podcast B”.

Quizzing is another passion that began early. I experienced initial success in school, which was recognized by teachers and peers. My strengths lie in Science, Business, and Technology. I participated in quizzes at various levels and won accolades.

I follow a major motorsport, having been involved in a student technical team related to it. I have been actively following it since a specific year.

I enjoy listening to music; it provides a sense of tranquility. I believe the appreciation of music can be influenced by mood, although some songs are universally uplifting. I’ve had moments where familiar songs gain new significance. I am also interested in high-quality audio equipment.

I am interested in exploring tools for workflow optimization and automation through templates. I appreciate using to-do lists and exploring productivity concepts.

In Closing

This blog is a dynamic space, reflecting my ongoing journey. From navigating unconventional educational paths and diverse professional roles to pursuing personal growth through various interests, my experiences have shaped me. I bring together analytical skills, a strategic perspective, and a personal drive for continuous learning and improvement.
